Shirley S. Cherian was born as a blessing and miracle into the Cherian family. Her mother and father remained faithful through a very difficult pregnancy for the birth of a child who would touch so many lives in such a short amount of time.
Shirley was a social butterfly who lit up the room with her smile, and could fill that same room with laughter within seconds. Her happiness was contagious, her outlook was always positive, and she used her time here on the earth to encourage others and point them to Christ.
In November of 2016, Shirley was called Home to be with the Lord at the mere age of 30. Her death was tragic and unexpected, but she stood strong in knowing she was ready to go when she was called. She had dedicated the last years of her life to displaying Christ’s love to others through her words and actions without anyone knowing the full extent of how many lives she had impacted. Only after Shirley’s death were the magnitude of her efforts slowly revealed to the family through the testimonies of others, to understand how much she was doing to further God’s kingdom and encourage others in complete humility.
Her life has left such a strong and impactful legacy, that it has become our mission to do what we can to help others have the opportunity to experience life in the joy of the Lord the same way that Shirley did. Shirley had a strong passion for encouraging and mentoring young adults who were focused on society-defined ‘failures’ in their lives rather than looking to the positive. With her same passion for Christ, and devotion to serve and love others, we will continue Shirley’s work in encouraging others to know their identity and purpose through Christ.
Shirley was a true gift from the Lord. We consider ourselves both honored and blessed to have had her in our lives. Her legacy will never be forgotten because of how deeply she lives in our hearts.
